Residents Chad and Jean Johnson Enjoy an Active Lifestyle and Peace of Mind at The Fountains

WHO NEEDS A BIG HOUSE?
Big houses mean big headaches, if you ask Chad Johnson. Maintenance-free living eliminates worries for today – and tomorrow.

“Anticipate your move and give up the big house and all that stuff because we don’t need it any longer. We’ve been there, done that.” – Chad Johnson, resident of The Fountains at The Carlotta

MEET CHAD AND JEAN JOHNSON, WHO SAY THEY’RE HAPPIER WITH THEIR CURRENT LIFESTYLE BECAUSE OF THE HELP.
You can learn a lot from someone who has been in your shoes. Their honest insight can help you navigate your way to the place that’s right for you, regardless of which community you choose. (All quotes contained in this post are excerpts from an interview conducted with Chad and Jean Johnson on Friday, August 11th, 2017. To read the full, un-edited transcript, please click here.)

After raising their family in Burbank, California, where Chad owned an auto repair store, the Johnsons retired to the golfing life in Rancho Mirage. That lifestyle worked beautifully for them for many of the 26 years that they lived at Sunrise Country Club. However, as birthdays rolled around, they enjoyed it less and less. If you ask Jean, it was just in the nick of time that they relocated to The Fountains. She wouldn’t have the energy today. They relish not worrying about home and yard work and Jean especially loves that she never has to cook again. Their kids and grandkids visit frequently and they don’t regret their move for a minute.

DON’T WAIT
If you could benefit from the advice of someone who has “been there, done that,” would you listen with an open mind? Chad and Jean Johnson are three-year residents of The Fountains at The Carlotta. They volunteer to speak to people who are planning their own best future because they’ve been there before and feel their experience can really help other people move to the place that’s right for them. Chad likes to share their actual costs of living and Jean shares tips for making your apartment your home. That kind of perspective can add years to your life and most importantly, life to your years. “But the main thing that we push is, don’t wait so long that when you do make the move you are not physically and mentally going to do it.” – Chad Johnson

NO REGRETS
Real life is no fairy tale but in the right environment, you really can live happily ever after. Chad and Jean researched five communities before selecting the one with the largest apartments and the most levels of care for peace of mind. After arranging their furniture to resemble their dream house, they instantly felt at home. “We had to quit playing golf because of age and it just wasn’t fun anymore. A couple of 911 calls to emergency and we looked to the future and said, ‘We can no longer live in Camelot. We need to move to a place.’ And we selected Carlotta and I have not been sorry one moment since we’ve been here.” – Chad Johnson

EVERYTHING IS RIGHT HERE
Jean enjoys attending church service, Sunday brunch, lunch at CC’s and Rummikub, all without leaving home. There’s so much to do. And when the next emergency comes knocking, everything they need is right here. “It’s so nice to just walk down the hall and there’s the dining room for dinner and then there’s the auditorium which many events go on, we go to some and others we don’t do, it depends on what we’re interested in but they have a lot going on here really.” – Jean Johnson, resident of The Fountains at The Carlotta
