The Fountains at the Carlotta residents channeled their creativity during a recent Watermark University class called “The Artist Within.” Led by maintenance associate, Rafael Uribe, participants are guided through simple steps to create a one-of-a-kind work of art. For his most recent class, Rafael used acrylics to create an aquatic-inspired piece titled, “The Sea Floor.”
Residents chose various colors of paint to splatter across the blank canvas, ultimately bringing it to life. They then placed shells, stones, crystals, and beads over the paint before giving the canvas a hearty shake. The end result was a vibrant, three-dimensional work of art; each canvas was unique, as no two paintings were alike. From the looks of the smiles on our artists’ faces, you can tell that they were quite pleased with their beautiful creations! Residents are already buzzing in excitement for the next installment of Rafael’s class.
We all know that regular exercise and healthy eating are beneficial components to active aging, but having a creative hobby can stimulate your mind, promote feelings of happiness, and may improve your overall quality of life.
