Drive-In Movie Social

On June 6th, 1933 Richard Hollingshead opened the first theater for the auto-bound in Camden, N.J. People paid 25 cents per car as well as per person to the British comedy Wives Beware under the stars. Since drive-ins hold a special memory in our resident’s heart, we held our own drive-in movie social. There was a concession stand with old fashioned coca cola bottles, popcorn, hot dogs and Hershey’s bars. The resident’s enjoyed the movie, Some Like it Hot starting Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon. The admission to get in was two dollars and the proceeds went to Watermark for Kids, our non-profit organization.
